You have succumbed to the Neoliberal propaganda that has infected the body politic for the past 30 years — namely, that everything must be earned, and that a person is only worth what The Market says they are worth, and people do not deserve anything simply by virtue of being part of our society. You seem to subscribe to that Thatcherite slogan that “there is no such thing as society.” Well, we disagree.
