You cite many instances from a period before the arrival of nuclear weapons. In 1917 there was no reason to think that a "great powers conflict" would result in the eradication of all life on the planet. Nor was it a possibility in 1939, 1940, etc.

As far as Hungary and Czechoslovakia are concerned, these are essentially internal conflicts.

As far as the 1979 "invasion" of Afghanistan, your characterisation of this conflict gives you away as a shameless shill, a western propagandist.

The Soviets came into Afghanistan AT THE REQUEST OF THE GOVERNMENT. It was not an "invasion". It was a response to a plea for assistance from a socialist government under siege by counterrevolutionary forces backed by the West.

Still, there was never the thought of a nuclear escalation.

The war in Georgia was in many ways a prelude to the war in Ukraine. In both cases, US Senators like John McCain went to these countries to stoke opposition, and "promise" US help in attacking Russia.

The US and its CIA created so-called "color revolutions" in both countries. In Georgia, it was the "Rose Revolution". In Ukraine, it was the "Orange Revolution."

MY GOD - does no one ever stop to think about why we have these "revolutions" with "colors"???? OF COURSE IT IS ALL CIA.

Anyway:

Unfortunately for Georgian President Mikheil Saakashvili, he actually believed John McCain, and he provoked Russia, thinking that the US would "have his back". Well, guess what? The US was not willing to start WWIII over Georgia.

That was back when cooler heads prevailed in Washington. Now, it seems, the US is willing to start WWIII over Ukraine. God help us all.
