In the case of Israel, it is a different matter. This has not so much to do with pure economic interests. Israel stopped being any sort of strategic asset for the US long ago, certainly since the fall of teh USSR. Indeed the argument has been made by Mearsheimer and others that Israel is in fact a strategic LIABILITY for the US, and there are no logical economic, strategic or geopolitical reasons for the US to support Israel.
The only reasons that US supports Israel are purely cynical and financial. The Israel Lobby has the power to destroy any US politician who dares oppose the Zionist cause, and so Israel gets whatever Israel wants. It is really unusual. AIPAC does not have to register under FARA. Israel is seen as a part of America.
I recently read that the idea of making Israel a "51st state" was floated, but the Israelis rejected the proposal, because then "they would only have 2 Senators", whereas now they can control all 100.
Yes, there is a business reason to support Israel: the money the US gives to Israel comes back when Israel buys F-35s and other US weapons, and the Iron dome is basically a modified Patriot system.
But with Israel it is different. There are 30 million "Christian Zionists" who believe as a matter of faith that Israel must take back all of the Holy Land, and once they do, Christ will return and rapture them to heaven.
The Israeli Zionists of course encourage these nut cases, and play to their madness, because it suits their Zionist cause. They see taking back all of "Greater Israel" as a messianic project, just as Hitler saw the need to capture "Grossdeutschland". They are happy to have the help of the benighted Christian Zionists in achieving that destiny.
The fact that the Zionist project includes murdering all the Christians in Gaza and destroying all the Christian churches in Gaza seems to be lost on those redneck stupid ignorant Christian Zionists. They themselves are as insanely psychopathic as the Zionists: they do not care how many Middle Eastern Christians need to die, as long as they can get Raptured.
It is no small coincidence that the beliefs of the Jewish Zionists and the Christian Zionists coincide in that both groups believe that all the non-Jews in the Holy Land need to die, so that the Jews can reign supreme over Israel and Christ can come again.
And for the white Christian Zionists this is not a problem: they are racists, the Zionists are racists, ands the two groups are united in their racism. Who cares if some brown-skinned Arabic Christians need to be murdered so that the Jews can take their land and hasten the Second Coming? These Christian Zionist racist psychopaths are just fine with that.
