If you did then you would know that the peace agreement was ready to be signed in early April, but Boris Johnson arrived "without warning" in Kiev and convinced Zelensky that he could defeat Russia with UK and US help, which would be unlimited, unwavering and unending - "for as long as it takes".

If anything, the US and UK underestimated Putin's desire to have a peaceful resolution that did not involve Russia having to take over responsibility for Ukrainian territories.

They also underestimated Russia's strength and Putin's popularity.

The only things they overestimated were the effect of their sanctions and the superiority of their weapons.
