Why Tulsi Gabbard Poses a Threat to the Intel Community
Critics claim Trump’s pick to be Director of National Intelligence will cause “chaos” in the national security establishment. In reality, she will cause FEAR — and that’s a good thing.
Tulsi Gabbard faces stiff opposition to her appointment as Director of National Intelligence (DNI), not just from Congressional Democrats, but also — and especially — from those in the so-called “Intel Community”.
Tom Nichols, writing in The Atlantic, expressed the opposition in the starkest of terms: “Tulsi Gabbard’s Nomination Is a National-Security Risk”, thundered the headline of his recent hit piece.
Nichols starts by stating that Gabbard is “stunningly unqualified for almost any Cabinet post”, ad that she “has no qualifications as an intelligence professional”. He then goes on to accuse Gabbard of “shilling for Assad” and “cheerleading for Russia”.
Then comes the clincher: “A person with Gabbard’s views should not be allowed anywhere near the crown jewels of American intelligence”.
