What’s Really Going On in Syria

The tragedy of Syria started decades ago, when the US and Israel decided to use Islamic Jihadis as a means of attaining geopolitical goals.

In order to understand what’s happening in Syria, we have to go all the way back to Afghanistan in the 1980’s. That’s when the CIA and the US State Department colluded to arm and fund Osama Bin Laden’s Mujahideen in their struggle against the socialist Afghanistan government and its Soviet Union allies who were defending the regime.

This covert campaign, known as “Operation Cyclone”, quickly became the stuff of legend.

The CIA’s Jihadi Playbook

MOST IMPORTANTLY: the promulgation of that Afghan Jihad found its way into the CIA playbook and became standard operating practice for any regime change operation in the world where such Islamic extremists could be deployed.

I wrote about this in my article, “Washington’s End Game for Ukraine is a New ‘Charlie Wilson’s War’”, in which I posited that the supply of Javelin anti-tank missiles to the Ukraine’s Nazi battalions was essentially the same strategy as sending Stingers to Bin Laden’s Mujahideen.
