Very few people want "giovernment-run" healthcare such as they have in the UK with the NHS. That is not what I was saying, and I am sorry for not being clear. When I said "National Health Care System" I was referring to what we call "Medicare for All" - that means expanding the government's existing health insurance system (Medicare) so that the age of eligibility drops from 65 to 0. So everyone is insured from birth to death, but the facilities themselves are still (overwhelmingly) private.

I am an American. I have been paying into a=our national health insurance system (Medicare) since I got my first job when I was 16. But I could not avail of that insurance until I turned 65.

M4A (aka "Single Payer") has always been popular, and Medicare is consistently rated as the best health insurance provider in terms of patient satisfaction, etc.
