This is my problem with Zionism. The Zionists maintain that a Jewish "nation" is necessary to ensure the continuation of Jewish life and culture. This is demonstrably not true. Jews live and thrive in many nations already, and they have done so literally for thousands of years. These millennia of diaspora are glossed over or outright dismissed or ignored by the Zionists.

For the Zionists, the timeline of human history jumps from the Biblical era to 1930, and the historic timeline of the Jews jumps from 1000 BCE to 1948, when - for the Zionists - modern Jewish history started.

I side with the ultra-orthodox who see Israel as an abomination, a nation that has no right to exist under Jewish teachings. It is supposed to be up to the Messiah to lead the Jews back to the "Promised Land", and the Zionists, by arrogating to themselves the role reserved for God, are committing a sin.

As far as the "mentality of present adversary" is concerned, I would counter that this mentality is solely and exclusively a product of, and a reaction to, the Zionist project itself.

Zionism is thus a self-licking ice cream cone, if you will.
