Tell me, please: what is this “moderate middle” that you say Democrats are losing?
Who are these “moderates” that people keep talking about? Are they “fiscally conservative and socially liberal”? If so, then those are just Republicans of the GHW Bush/Jack Kemp variety. Not Democrats, and not moderates.
We know that 70% of Americans (including 53% of Republicans) now support Medicare for All. So what would be the “moderate middle” on the Healthcare issue?
We also know that 60% of Americans support tuition-free college. So tell me, what would be the “moderate middle” position on the topic of Education?
We know that 85% of Americans support paid Family and Medical Leave. So tell me, what is the “moderate middle” position on that topic?
People keep saying that the Democrats are going too far Left, but I do not understand how that can be if the policies they are promoting have such strong majoritarian support among the American people.
Where is the “moderate middle” on these issues, when 2/3 of Americans including majorities of Republicans already support the policies and positions of Bernie Sanders and Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez.
I mean, are there any “moderate middle” positions on these issues that will gain a candidate MORE than a 2/3 majority of people voting with them?
Backing off these policies would make them less popular as candidates, not more. And that means they are already in the mainstream, in the majority and very firmly in the “moderate middle” ALREADY.
