Regarding the Budapest Memorandum: the English term «security assurances» in the Ukrainian text is translated as «security guarantees,» while obviously, the parties — naturally, excluding Ukraine — meant just that — political assurances.

But that was all predicated on Ukrainian neutrality. Once the US invited Ukraine to become a member of NATO, and then created the coup in Kiev to install a government that was pro-NATO, Russia could not be expected to sit back and allow its greatest naval base to become a NATO installation. That is just being either incredibly naive or incredibly stupid - and in your case, I would say incredibly disingenuous.
