I think you are grossly mistaken as to why the USA is supporting Ukraine. It is not to "support a fight for freedom" - Ukraine was already free when the US started supplying advanced weapons systems and training the Ukrainian army back under the Trump Administration.
If the US was interested in supporting "freedom" they would have insisted that the Minsk Accords be implemented.
No, we KNOW why the US is supporting Ukraine. Adam Schiff said it: "we support Ukraine so they can fight the Russians over there, so we don't have to fight them over here" (see the clip).
US Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin explained the reason that the US is supporting Ukraine:
"We want to see Russia weakened to the point where it can’t do things like invade Ukraine".
And of course, Biden himself said that the goal of the US in Ukraine was to effect REGIME CHANGE IN RUSSIA.
Senator Lindsay Graham said the truth last year, when he crowed that With U.S. weapons and money, "Ukraine will fight Russia to the last Ukrainian".
Also, regarding your reference to France, I suggest you google "Anglo-French War", which took place from 1778 to 1783.
The French helped the Americans because they saw it as a way to "weaken England" - their geopolitical enemy, with whom they were at war at the time of the American Revolution. Freedom had little to do with it.
