I don't know how old you are but I am reminded of a great episode of The McLaughlin Group where they were talking about religion, and they asked the great Jack Germond, "are you religious"?

He replied sardonically with a snort and a laugh, "What can I say? One day, I just woke up".

I think nowadays the kids call that being "red-pilled".

That's what happened to me. And, if I may mix metaphors, once you see the truth of America, it's hard to put that red pill genie back in the bottle.
