I am not a liar, and I would caution you against making such a slur lest you run afoul of the Medium platformn moderators.

On October 7, Hamas carried out a targeted military operation. They were armed, and they were fighting, and they wanted to kill their military enemy, take some POW, and take civilians as hostages. That is of course a crime, but for Hamas, it was the only way they could hope to releas ecxome of the 10,000 Palestinians suffering torture in Israeli prisons without even being charged.

And yes, they will do such operations in the future, and will continue to offer armed resistance to their occupation until that occupation is ended.

The purpose of the October 7 attack, however, was very specific:

Khalil al-Hayya, a member of the group's governing politburo, told The New York Times in an interview:

"This battle was not because we wanted fuel or laborers," al-Hayya said. "It did not seek to improve the situation in Gaza. This battle is to completely overthrow the situation."

The "situation" was that the world was "sleeping" and ignoring the Palestinian cause. Hamas wanted to "awaken" the world from their "slumber".

Another reason was to overthrow the situation between Israel and Arab countries like Saudi Arabia, who were about to "normalise relations" with Israel.

In these two efforts, Hamas was HUGELY SUCCESSFUL.

One man's terrorist is another man's freedom fighter.

During the 1930's Jewish terrorist groups like Haganah, Irgun and Stern Gang conducted a brutal and bloody terrorist campaign in which they slit throats, blew up hotels, trains, and other public buildings, assassinated British officials and even a UN envoy, and slaughtered hundreds of innocent civilians - Arab and British alike.

The leaders of these terrorist groups included Menachem Begin, Yitzhak Shamir and Ariel Sharon, who would later go on to become Prime Ministers of Israel. Would you call them "terrorists" because of the terror acts they committed in order to obtain independence?
