Do the Ukrainians remember agreeing to the Budapest Memorandum? Do the Ukrainians and the US remember agreeing to the full definition of "sovereignty"?
In 2014 when the Maidan Coup happened, Ukraine had 6,000 people in their army.
Then the US spent $2.7 BILLION to build up and train a Ukrainian army to NATO standards, and equip them with NATO weapons, even though they were not part of NATO.
The Americans financed and sent advisors to help build the original 6,000 man Ukrainian army to a force of 150,000.
All so they could fight "on the side of" NATO, an alliance that is 100% openly hostile to Russia - whose sole stated reason for existence is to oppose Russia.
Is that "respecting the sovereignty of Ukraine"?
No.
The Budapest Memorandum was to provide security guarantees for Ukraine - NOT to allow Ukraine to become a militarised proxy of the West.
