China just “declared war” on the USA

They are formally condemning America’s unique combination of bellicosity and asininity.

First, I need to thank the great Gonzalo Lira for reporting the fact that the Foreign Ministry of China has issued an official White Paper entitled, amazingly, “US Hegemony and Its Perils”.

Lira characterises this paper as “the prosecution’s case” for declaring a de facto war on the United States.

The document, which was published on February 20, 2023, explains its purpose is “to expose the U.S. abuse of hegemony in the political, military, economic, financial, technological and cultural fields, and to draw greater international attention to the perils of the U.S. practices to world peace and stability and the well-being of all peoples”.

Timing is everything

The paper was published on China’s Foreign Ministry website just about two weeks after the US shot down what it called a “Chinese spy balloon”. The US dispatched an ultra-modern F-22 fighter jet which took down the balloon by firing two Sidewinder missiles (the first one missed). Each Sidewinder costs the US taxpayer about $500,000.

The Chinese have maintained that the object the F-22 shot down was nothing more than a weather balloon. China’s foreign minister, Wang Yi, speaking at the Munich Security Conference on February 18, called out the US reaction to the balloon for the farce it was:
