How about this: Anyone who doesn't know the difference between Russia and the USSR should shut the f*ck up.

I have lived in the West for over 60 years. I have seen how the USA spiralled into a morass of greed and corporate villainy following the fall of the USSR. Would I have wanted to live under the Soviet Union? Hell, no. But I do appreciate what the mere EXISTENCE of the USSR meant for those of us in the West.

If there had not been a communist "superpower" vying with the West for the allegiance of the "non-aligned" countries in the rest of the world, there would not be a generous social system with totally free university and totally free healthcare in Europe, and there would be no Medicare or Social Security in the USA. Everything would be privatised, sold off, cut back and cut off.

IOW, exactly what has been happening in the West since 1991.
