300k Ukrainians have died because they have been used as cannon fodder by the West. Almost 1/3 of those dead happened in Bakhmut, however, where Zelensky insisted on sending troops on suicide attacks against fortified Wagner positions.

The Russians have been using strategic withdrawals to pull back and dig in, and the Ukrainians just keep attacking, without sufficient air power or artillery.

The Russians enjoy a 10/1 advantage in artillery, this is widely acknowledged. It is no wonder that the Russians also benefit from a casualty ratio that is similar in scope.
