1) Russia did not "invade" Ukraine. They launched a SMO with 190,000 men - not even enough to capture Kiev, let alone "conquer" a country the size of Ukraine.
2) The conflict / SMO was not done by choice. Putin felt he had no option. You need to remember that Putin spent 8 years trying to negotiate a diplomatic solution that would have seen Donetsk and Luhansk REMAIN PART OF A SOVEREIGN UKRAINE. That was the basis of the Minsk Accords. It was only when it became finally, undeniably clear trhat Ukraine and its Western backers never intended to implement Minsk, and instead were massing troops for a final invasion of the Donbas, that Putin felt he had to act.
3) There is NOTHING about the Ukraine conflict that is "genocidal". You want to see genocide, look at Gaza and compare it to Kiev, where life goes on, the Rada still meet, Zelensky hosts international leaders, etc. If Putin were conducting a "genocidal war", Kiev would be FLATTENED - like Gaza.
